About the Song

Son of Angels is a symphonic metal hard rock/metal song that captures the chaos inside the mind of an over thinker.

The song was written and performed originally in 2009, but finally recorded in September and October 2024.

It is the first track ever recorded, produced, and released by Chargia.

Production Techniques:

Creating Emotion and Intensity:

String quartet part highlights the main riff throughout the song at different points.

Half-beat post-chorus riff to bring in verse 2.

Vocals tripled and modulated to octaves and 5ths.

Sonic Imagery:

Man shackled to ball and chain: Alternating kick and snare drum coupled with tea-cup sample sounds to represent the chain clinking.

Man having breakdown at end of song: Heavy use of warped vinyl effect slowing down and decreased pitch modulation to represent mental fatigue.

Illustration of Mental Decline

Crescendo starting with quieter “silence in the mind” that builds up to big chaotic ending to build suspense, including a pre-outro pause.

Backing vocal “canon” of repetitive lyrics, where the motif overlaps itself at different points.

Hard panning of sounds phasing left to right, creating a swirling sensation around the mind.

About the Band

New Art Riot is a semi-anonymous one-man musical project conceptualised, produced and marketed by Chargia.

After a catalogue of life-changing events caused an enigmatic Brit to be signed off work for three months, his therapist told him he needed a healthy outlet for coping with the struggles he was facing at the time.

So, one night in September 2024 he decided to sit down and record some of his old songs that were never released. After seeing both his best friend and partner stunned at the quality of the production for someone who’d been doing it for only a week, he proceeded to sit down and record some more. And more. And more.

And so, The Architect was born.
